POST OF DDG: MCM ADVERTISED

On Sunday 17 January 2010, the post of DDG: MCM was advertised after Monde Mayekiso vacated this post to assume the DDG position of some other post concerned with climate change but which has yet to have a budget or staff complement confirmed. It would therefore clearly have been a "forced horizontal" move that will nevertheless see Mayekiso continue to earn his sizeable government salary and guaranteed bonuses. At just under R1 million annually, the applications for the top job at MCM will no doubt be submitted fast and furiously.

Feike has learnt that one of the many keen applicants is a former chief director of fisheries resource management who was "convinced" by the Director-General, Dr Crispian Olver, at the time, that his time had come to cause greater chaos at another state institution, which, Feike understands from numerous colleagues, he duly succeeded at. If this candidate is indeed seriously considering the post of DDG: MCM, our only plea is to bring Monde Mayekiso right back because our erstwhile colleague will take Mayekiso's MCM to greater depths of the abyss.
